This week's Lab Hours: Troubleshooting and Tips

Another jam-packed week at Lab Hours as the group grows!

  • Don is new to Lab Hours, and has just had his inherited Drupal 4.6 site upgraded to Drupal 5. He's learning the ropes of our install profile, and getting up to speed on all things Drupal 5!. He created a reviews content type for his plays and events, and learned how to set up users to work with their own profiles. He also learned about "50 other things".
  • Steve is working an image gallery. He's got imagecache and thickbox up and running, and a handy block to link to articles.
  • Tammy has run into the infamous Forbidden Input Format error. Users mysteriously can't edit nodes, seemingly at random, when there should be no reason they can't. Actually, there is a reason: these nodes have content using the Full HTML input format, which they can't access. This is a tricky one, and I'm glad we were there to help catch it. I know this tripped me up for hours the first time I encountered it.
  • Kristin is working with exposed filters for her new profile listings. She also struggled with disk space issues, and a bloated iTunes library.
  • Jake is polishing off the newsletter, and newsletter archive.
  • Lindagail is working with breadcrumbs, linking events to their profile owners. For her too, hardware problems abound :(
  • Jay has added a taxonomy for the new event calendar, and has added some exposed filters.
  • Kay's got her service links and CSS working. Movin' right along!
  • Tim was dissatisfied with the default listing of search results. Rather than rethemeing, he opted to create views, using the search keyword filter. This also has the added benefit of using other fields to create an advanced search.
  • Maryann is learning about nicemenus, and troubleshooting CSS issues. Meanwhile, her first site is coming together nicely!
